Apple is set to introduce a revamped version of Siri in iOS 27, with a strong focus on enhancing user privacy in the AI landscape. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new, more chatbot-like Siri will offer users the option to auto-delete chat histories, allowing them to choose from three retention periods: 30 days, one year, or forever.
This approach differs from other major players in the space, which typically only offer temporary incognito chats, if that. By providing users with more control over their conversation data, Apple aims to alleviate growing concerns around AI privacy.
As the tech giant continues to navigate the competitive AI market, its emphasis on privacy may be a strategic move to gain an edge. By prioritizing user privacy, Apple is betting that consumers will be willing to sacrifice some convenience for the sake of greater security and peace of mind.
