Meta Introduces AI Training Tool to Monitor Employee Computer Activity

Meta is enhancing its AI capabilities by tracking the computer activities of its US-based employees through a tool called Model Capability Initiative (MCI). This tool will be installed on employees’ work computers to monitor and record their interactions with various work-related apps and websites.

The MCI tool will capture mouse movements, clicks, keystrokes, and occasional screenshots, providing valuable data to train Meta’s AI models. This initiative aims to improve the AI agents’ ability to interact with computers in a human-like manner, enabling them to automate tasks and workflows currently performed by Meta employees.

According to reports, the data collected through MCI will be used solely for training AI models and will not be utilized for employee performance assessments. This distinction is crucial in addressing potential concerns about employee privacy and the use of their work activity data.
