Wuhan Traffic Disrupted as Baidu Robotaxis Abruptly Halt

A series of Baidu Apollo robotaxis in Wuhan, China mysteriously stopped in their tracks on Tuesday, leaving passengers stranded and causing significant disruptions to traffic.

According to reports, the robotaxis froze in the middle of streets, with some passengers trapped inside, while others were left stuck on highways. At least one accident was reported as a result of the sudden stoppages.

Local police confirmed that they received multiple reports of the incidents and launched an investigation, which preliminary suggests that a ‘system failure’ was to blame. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The incident raises concerns about the reliability and safety of autonomous vehicles, and highlights the need for robust testing and quality control measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
