OpenAI Unveils Prism: AI-Powered Tool for Scientific Research

OpenAI has introduced Prism, a free LLM-powered tool designed to assist scientists in writing research papers. By embedding ChatGPT into a text editor, Prism aims to revolutionize the way scientists work, making it easier to access advanced topics in science and math.

According to Kevin Weil, head of OpenAI for Science, the tool is a response to the growing demand for AI-powered solutions in scientific research. With over 1.3 million scientists submitting more than 8 million queries a week to ChatGPT, OpenAI is poised to become a leading player in the market.

Prism’s features include assisting with writing, polishing text, and providing feedback on research papers. It also enables quick summarization of research articles, making it easier for scientists to interact with the scientific literature.

Experts in the field have already begun to utilize AI-powered tools, such as GPT-5, to streamline their workflow. Roland Dunbrack, a professor of biology, uses GPT-5 for writing code, while Nikita Zhivotovskiy, a statistician, relies on it for polishing text and providing feedback on research papers.
