Chinese tech giant Alibaba has officially entered the smart glasses arena with its new Quark glasses, a line of AI-powered wearables distinguished by their innovative removable battery system. Available initially in two models, the S1 and G1, the Quark glasses promise up to 24 hours of operation thanks to the hot-swappable battery design. Integrating Alibaba’s in-house AI model, Qwen, these glasses offer a suite of intelligent features including real-time translation, product price recognition, GPS navigation, and meeting transcription capabilities. Plans are in motion to release international versions of the Quark glasses next year, positioning Alibaba as a direct competitor to Meta and other key players vying for market share in the burgeoning AI-enhanced wearable technology space. The launch of Quark represents a significant move for Alibaba, solidifying its commitment to innovation within the rapidly expanding market for intelligent wearables.
